Another hidden gem of a bar! We headed to the Campbell Apartment to say farewell to Jenny who returned to Australia last week.
The Campbell Apartment, located in Grand Central Station, is pretty much mentioned in all the NY tour guides as one of THE bars to visit. Not sure about the crowd on the night we went - a lot of stodgy old business men - but the building and decor were amazing. It used to be owned by some 20th century tycoon and functioned as an office but before learning this a few of us were pretty convinced it was an old chapel. The ceilings were really intricate. The photos below don't do it justice - it was just too dark... I'll probably go back and see what the crowd is like another night.
Overall I'd give it 7 out of 10 (for being a bit different). In addition to good company, fancy menus, traditionally dressed waiters, and some random girl falling to the ground like a sack of potatoes, my highlight of the night was.....getting in wearing my crappy 'I love Jack Bauer' t-shirt. My friends think I should go on the TV show 'What not to wear'. Ha! I say, love it or leave it guys.
"Proper attire required - Absolutely no athletic shoes, t-shirts etc etc' - YESSSSSSS!
Ok, probably not the BEST look, but whatever.
I'm getting reports from Australia that it's currently 43C degrees, so would like to say that here in NY it's bloody freezing. Definitely the coldest weather I've ever experienced. Colder than last winter I think.
All this talk of the weather reminded me to post some photos from a recent ski trip to Killington, Vermont. It was the first time skiing for me and needless to say I spent a lot of time sitting (falling) on my a**. The trip also coincided with New Years Eve...
Every day we pretty much had the same routine - greasy fried breakfast at the hotel, then off to the slopes for 5 or 6 hrs then back to the hotel and straight into the hot tub and sauna, then off to dinner. I had a great time, but have never been so cold or so sore in my whole life!
