I realised I never posted a follow-up to my previous Boston post.About 2 weeks ago I spent a lovely weekend in Boston, catching up with Andy and Dave who flew in from London. In my previous post I talked about the amazing Autumn leaves which I saw from the bus on the way up. A few people have been asking for photos so here they are...bear in mind, these really don't do the leaves justice, but it will give you an idea of how bright and vibrant they were...
It just so happened the weekend were there they were holding the annual Head of the Charles, the world's largest rowing race, so there was a nice buzz to the place. We watched the race for a little and caught up on each other's goss, while I ate my first chowder. Chowder rocks. Interestingly it was also served in a bread bowl (see below), and amazingly the bread held out till the end and it didn't leak through.
My chowder bread bowl! There aren't actually meant to be 2 chunks missing from it. I was just starving having not eaten any breakfast so started chomping into the bread also. It was only after I found out that in order for the bread remain a firm base for the soup, it has to be a little on the stale side. You can't go to Boston and not visit Harvard, so we did took a gander around the university grounds and observed life as an Ivy Leaguer.

It was also just before Halloween, so there was this awesome pumpkin display in the city to raise money for a children's charity. It was pretty spectacular! There must have been about a 1000 pumpkins, both on the display you see below, but also on the ground. There was also a pumpkin maze!
And amidst the 1000s of pumpkins, there was one which stood out from the crowd. Yeah that's right, say my name and say it loud! I didn't carve this by the way, it just happened to be there.
The 2 biggest pumpkins of allAt night we hit a cheesy American bar, which free poured vodka drinks so each glass must have had at least 4 shots in it! Yeowch. It was cheap at the time, but we paid for it the next day,
what's a night out without chips?
