This coming weekend will mark the end of my time on New York's Upper
East Side. I'm moving downtown to the East Village which is a little
cooler, a little trendier and just closer to all the places I like to
hang out.

So to prepare, tonight I visited my favorite local sandwich place,
"Five Star Deli" on 86th and 1st ave, for one last tasty sandwich.
I've been visiting this place pretty much once a week for the past
year and always order the same thing - hot roast beef on a roll, with
lettuce, tomato, American cheese, mayonnaise, with a sprinkling of
black pepper and half a pickle on the side. They chuck it all on a
grill and melt the cheese, lightly toast the bread and heat the roast
beef. Hmmm it's delicious and also makes great hangover food.

At 6 bucks a sandwich and roughly one a week, this place is going to
feel it when their most valuable customer leaves. Oh you should know
although it's called a "Five Star Deli" it really is just a little
corner/convenience store which happens to have a deli inside. In fact
I totally overlooked it in the first instance and only stumbled upon
it one night when it was really late and nothing else was open.

Anyhow, it was sad saying goodbye to my weekly roast beef sandwich and the staff who know me and my order so well - I'd always be greeted
with "hey, hey, same thing?" - but I'm excited to be moving downtown
and discovering new places to buy my roast beef.
