Been eating a lot more Japanese since being in New York. Japanese is BIG here. Last year I went through a sushi phase - spicy tuna rolls were a twice sometimes three times a week occurance. Have also been to more upscale Japanese restaurants (iron chef standard) like Morimoto and Budakhan (took my brother to Morimoto when he came to visit!) but recently it's been all about the ramen...who knew 2 min noodle-type soup could have tasted so good? Well actually I think they brew the broth for something like 10hrs, and it shows! Damn tasty. Last night we checked out Ippudo in the East Village. Although according to my Japanese friend the setting was a bit Americanized the food was authentic and extremely delicious. Ramen was good but dare I say the pork buns were the food highlight of my night!
